Song:

So, what’s a dream? We hear people say all the time how important it is to dream and dream big. They even say if your dreams don’t scare you, they’re not big enough. We also hear those same people say find your passion and do what you love. But what is a dream and a passion. How do we identify them and why is is really so hard to just do what we love. We’ll for me, here’s how I see it. A dream is the ideal life. It’s what you want most out of life and how you want your life to look. For some people that dream can be to be a superstar singer or an actor. For others that dream could be to have a thriving business. Or a small business. Some people dream of a particular career that affords them a certain lifestyle. Your dreams really are as unique as you are. And those dreams change as much as you do. Now passions are a little different. We can be passionate about many different things. Some people are passionate about wines, photography, family, fashion. Again the list goes on. There’s also talent to consider. Everyone who has a talent for singing doesn’t have a dream of being the next Beyonce or Whitney. They just have the talent and are happy singing around the house, at church or for their friends. Just because it’s your talent doesn’t make it your dream or your passion. It’s just something you’re good at with little to no effort. Here’s where they all come together for me. My passion is a central part of my dream. One of my passions is encouraging and motivating others. Another passion for me is motherhood. I have blended a couple of my passions together to create a business that works its way into the dream I have for my life. It’s all in what we want. I took a business course and the question was asked pretty early to determine what size you wanted your business to be. The answer to that question determined the actions you’d have to take to launch and grow that business. If you wanted a corporation, a small business, a micro business, they all required different steps. There were definite similarities though. The same is true of dreams. No matter what your dream is, the ground work can be the same. We laid some ground work last week with identifying limiting words and thoughts. Let’s take it a step further this week. This week I want you to take some time to identify your dream. What is it? Is there more than one dream? Once you’ve identified your dreams put them in order of importance.

Your dream doesn’t have to be earth shattering. It doesn’t have to make sense to someone else and it doesn’t need to meet the approval of anyone else. Some mamas dream of being a blogger. Just the act of putting their thoughts out there on the world wide web is a big step. Others may want to finally start a garden that feeds your family. Or maybe you want to be an author. You’ve been putting off working on a book forever. Now might be a good time to give that idea some love. This week we’ll identify your dreams. I want you to ask yourself some questions to figure out what your dream is. 1) What’s your talent? 2) What’s your hobby? 3) What inspires you? 4) What do you think your purpose is? 5) What are your goals? 6) When have you been happiest? 7) What would you do with your life if…You won $1 million?

You won $1,000 a week for life?

You lost your present job?

You had six months to live?

What do you routinely say that you will do “someday”? What life change or way of life are you putting off?

What could you imagine getting up in the morning for? What could you imagine being in your life so that when you go to bed every night, you think, “I can hardly wait for tomorrow!”?
