Most of us go into motherhood thinking we’re not going to change, we’re still going to go after our dreams, we’re not going to put ourselves on the back burner. We find out that all of that is easier said than done. You find yourself dead last on your to do list, making yoga pants your everyday attire and when you talk about your dreams it always starts with “Someday, I’ll…”
I totally relate to all of that. It wasn’t that long ago that I found myself working hard to fulfill goals for my life that weren’t based on what made me happy. I’m Camesha Gosha, Mama Motivator + Author.
I went through the same struggle of finding time to allow myself to dream and chase those dreams. I had to take a good look and figure out what I wanted. Once you really realize that you only get one shot at life, you want to live it in a way that makes you happy. Guess what? That’s an awesome example for your kids! It’s totally possible to be a devoted present mom AND make time to make your dreams come true.
In 2002, I quit my TV job in the Midwest and packed up and moved to Los Angeles because I wanted something different. I wanted to be a part of the entertainment industry and I knew exactly where I wanted to work, E!. I created a plan to make it happen and worked my butt off until I got there. I started at E! in 2004 and left my career working for NBC in 2013. It was a great life. What changed? I had children and my priorities shifted. I didn’t want the same things anymore. I wanted a different life. My husband and I felt like we weren’t seeing our kids at all because we were both growing our careers and meeting those demands.
I had a track record for making my dreams come true and I hadn’t even realized it until a friend pointed out that I’d say I wanted to do something and the next thing she knew it was happening. I decided to take those same ideas + strategies and apply them to my life again, to find my dreams again.
I’d had a mommy blog for years and I’d made awesome connections with my bloggy friends. One thing we all seemed to struggle with at some point was maintaining our identity after having kids. We struggled to hold on to our dreams. We struggled with making time for ourselves. I decided to shift my focus to motivating moms to go after what we wanted.
We all have different dreams whatever yours is, it’s important. It’s worth following. That’s why I created Hey, Big Dreamer. We are all worthy of our dreams. You deserve as much of what makes you happy as your heart can hold. This course will show you how to identify your passions. Map out your dreams and create a strategy to make your dreams real.
